how competitive is sorority rush?
by: isitim transferring to umd in the spring and plan on rushing. how competitive in rush here? I'm pretty familiar with the sororities at umd as i have lots of friends who go here and i visit a lot. it doesn't seem like the "top tier" girls are even that cool/hot ? just in comparison to other schools I've been to. the top girls here wouldn't be top and most other big schools they rushed at... is it difficult to get in a top tier here?!

I think for the most part the girls are pretty, fun, social. The girls in my pledge class were cheerleaders, athletes and leaders in their high schools. You dont have to be? Pretty and fun. Plenty of tears during rush when people are dropped.
To me this girl is a turn off if post is real ...stupidest and mean put down post. Obviously girls in warm states are tan and bikini ready year round...I'm glad we at maryland get to drink beer, have fun and wear large sweaters!!!

Its honest in that rush is competitive BUT to say she looked around and thought ehhh and was worried enough to post this thread? Makes no sense to me. BUT I went to a large school she mentioned freshman year and rushed...I got a top tier bid at that school. Family stuff happened and I came home transferred to maryland. Went through rush at maryland as a sophomore - top tier at maryland.
From my view... for majority top tiers who go through rush...not a snapped podcast type, not a girl who tried so hard to get into certain houses... I think the tops are the same at most schools. Pretty much 85%/90% group of cool girls. I would say always a few who may not fit in.
Rush is stressful because you want a fit and a house you want...1000 girls...its gets girl intense during rush. Once your in the sorority...its fun.

This post and comments are wacky to me.
Agree Tridelt and Alpha Phi have the prettiest coolest girls w Theta. KD a top but more low key girls. My friend goes to U of Arizona and her sorority which is top there is similar to my top at maryland. Top house is top choices of who comes through rush that year, sometimes we pick some diversity... to me this post is negative and why rush if that's what you think?
