my take on greekrank

There are a thousand ways you can rank sororities. You can rank them by what you perceive their "sisterhood" is, or their "looks" are, or their "personalities" are.
Here's what you need to know. Sororities are ranked by collective, hive-mind reputation. Reputations can spur instantly from one event and then carry through the years. That is the main reason that throughout all these years, throughout all these discussions, the rankings on this website have seldom changed. Another thing that hasn't changed is how easy it is to hate top-tier houses, and hate middle-tier houses, and hate bottom-tier houses. On this website you can hate them all.
There are girls with lovely personalities in every house. There are girls who are beautiful in every house. Most importantly, there are girls in every sorority who treat their sisters like sisters and have a beautiful sisterhood.
Go out and meet the chapters and figure out for yourself if any of this is true, and what home you want.
And if you think that Greek life isn't for you, that's okay too. I hope your decision not to join has nothing to do with the toxic impressions this website might give you.

While you do have some merit to your argument, sorority rankings are in a way much similar to the psychology behind fiduciary currency; rankings are built on trust and tradition. So while a bottom tier sorority might have equivalent levels of sisterhood as a top tier sorority, women with better assets are more likely attracted to top tier sororities because of their tradition of perfection. Looking from a macro perspective, this reasoning can be extrapolated into a broader spectrum for why living in America is much more coveted than living in a country like Guatemala. While I wish your argument were entirely true, it is not the natural order of things.
