sorority dynamics for freshman

Dear freshman: most of what you will hear about sororitys is either going to be sugarcoating/not honest or dirty rushing for their sorority. So here’s an unbiased no bs breakdown of sororitys/sorority life at umd.
KD/theta/Aphi: hottest girls, the popular crowd, a lot of girls are friends within these 3 sororitys. Usually the girls that top tier guys go after/want to get/go to their dateds etc. mostly social with top tier frats. Tridelt is up there with them but seen as less classy by many people.
Next comes upper middle: aopi,axo,axid. These girls social with a range of frats, top tier frats dont go all out for them like they do for top tiers, but might still want to social with them.
Next come aephi, zeta, phisig, dg, deeph, gphi. These are straight mid to lower mid sororitys. Usually social with mid frats to lower tier frats, rarely social with top tiers. However many find that the girls are less fake and that sisterhood is more genuine within these sororitys, while some attempt to social climb.
Then there are sk and sdt, honestly these girls have just as much fun as any sorority, strong bonds, but are lower tier and social accordingly.
Adpi is a struggling sorority, has not been pulling pledge classes almost at all. Time will tell if they last.
Saying all this, this is meant to be background info so you’re not completely lost, and not info for you to judge the sororitys based on. See for yourself who you mesh with throughout fall and going into spring. Each sorority gets full pledge classes.
