I noticed the same thing. It made me really uncomfortable and not want to return for the next round but I'm glad I did because I met some of the actual sisters and they were really nice.

It's not normal but it's definitely not unheard of. Smaller chapters sometimes need extra collegiate members to fill out their rooms because there are SO many PNMs.
I mean gamma phi beta and AZD had no members when they were colonizing on campus and brought in members from UDel to help them. People joined those groups based on meeting members from other schools....

Actually chapters do this. It's sometimes part of workshops to have sisters from other schools come in. There probably were sisters from other chapters at the other sororities that you went to on campus but you just weren't told or didn't notice. It's not a big deal at all. Also, it shows solidarity between the chapters from different schools which is nice.

In addition, GW is actually changing their recruitment from fall to spring, so it's helpful for the GW girls to see how that all works by coming to a school that has that system.

How is meeting a sister from another school something to confuse you or wierd you out? You aren't part of the Greek system and you have no idea the ins and outs of all chapters. All Chapters do this and as the previous poster said it could be to help GW get ready and acclimated to their change in Recruitment. I love meeting sisters from other chapters in my Sorority and they are ALL my sisters so I just don't understand how this would wierd anyone out. Such an odd statement.

Not true at all. Maybe your chapter doesn't have others visiting but I personally know other houses that have visiting members and alum. Stop being an asshatand remove yourself from your little bubble.

It actually does happen. It's happened in previous years with other sororities and everything. Also I don't really see it as weird or wrong because it goes to show you that they like to make connections with sisters all over, not just UMD. It's nice to see chapters making connections with others. Good networking in my eyes and I wish others would do it more

Gamma phi beta had girls from JMU helping during their recruitment just for the record...jmu gphi posted about it on their Facebook.
