fall sorority recruitment
by: Curiousso what is it like going through fall rather than winter? I'm transferring in the fall to umd and I want to join a chapter immediately but I don't want to end up either getting dropped for being older or not get to see all of the options and meet fewer people. Can anyone tell me how it works here?

If any traditionally "good" sororities are doing fall rush, its normally because they only need 3 or 4 girls because they were behind quota or an unproportional amount of seniors graduate. They'll have open houses and stuff like that but the truth is that 99% of the time they already know the girls they want and the girls they choose will already be good friends with a lot of the sisters, so its extremely difficult as an outsider to get a bid to a top sorority who happens to do fall for some reason.
on the other hand, the sororities who struggle with numbers and always do fall recruitment will have much more of a traditional recruitment process and take a lot more girls.

Thank you for the insight. So maybe I'll try it in winter if it seems promising. Just nervous about getting involved and meeting people at a new school so late in my college career. ill have two years left so hopefully I won't get ignored by sororities in the winter.
