inclusive sororities?

Hi! There's three panhellenic sororities at Carleton and I think around 6 local sororities that usually recruit people from CU, UO, AC and La Cité. Some orgs definitely have a rep for being more inclusive than others although I truly encourage you to meet with multiple orgs so you can better understand their ~vibes if that makes sense. At Carleton I would say DPSID, DPHIE, and AOII have a more "inclusive rep" although it's difficult to say which orgs are inclusive as that's really subjective.
TLDR: I would met some sisters from the orgs you're interested in and go from there. An org can appear inclusive however they may have their own internal issues. I wish you the best in rushing though and I hope you find what you're looking for in a sorority!!

Hey again! A panhellenic sorority refers to an organization part of the NPC, or the National Panhellenic Conference. The NPC is an umbrella organization for 26 sororities across the US and Canada, most of which are international as they have locations in both countries. The panhellenic sororities at Carleton are: Phi Sigma Sigma (Phi Sig), Alpha Omicron Pi (A O Pi) and Delta Phi Epsilon (DPhiE). They form the panhel council at Carleton! They all do recruitment together during the fall, which is what panhellenic recruitment is.
Local sororities essentially refers to organizations that are not part of the NPC. For example, Tau Sigma Phi (Tau Sig) was actually founded in Ottawa and has since expanded to multiple Canadian universities like McMaster and Brock. Local sororities are generally smaller and less regulated (which isn't necessarily a bad thing) as they don't have the extra bureaucratic restrictions like NPC orgs do! They each hold their own recruitments.
And it's completely fine to come to recruitment if you don't know members! I moved to Ottawa from a different city and knew absolutely no one at Carleton let alone in a sorority. I went through recruitment completely alone, and it's totally fine to not know anyone! I wish you all the best! :p

Can you get a hobby instead of replying to yourself and slandering sorority women? It's finals and exam season you could probably get deans list if you focused your energy into studying instead🙄

omg thank you for the detailed response :)) whats the difference between a panhellenic and local sorority? also, is it difficult to be accepted into a sorority if you don't know anyone? I don't know anyone in greek life at carleton but im thinking about rushing with my friend. thanks again and sorry I took so long to respond lol
