I've noticed some sororities call it rush and some call it recruitment - what's the difference?

It's the same thing! Rush is a verb and recruitment is a noun, ie. "I rushed during Fall Recruitment 2016" 😊

It tends to be an organizational preference. The panhellenic organizations at CU have formal recruitment whereas the local organizations, as well as the fraternities, tend to have a more informal "rush season" where you're just rushing one organization. Recruitment tends to be more of a process involving visiting each of the panhellenic organizations and going through all three of their recruitments whereas if you choose to go through local rush you have the option to rush just one organization or all of them if you want to.
