is it generally hard for sophomore transfers to go through recruitment and get into a decent sorority?

Sometimes-- depending on how cool you are. I know alpha phi took some and I'm pretty sure kappa and dg did too last year

I went through rush as a junior transfer from a community college and I was dropped by two houses. I got a top tier house. I say go for it!

Aphi and theta both took transfers last year (around 5 each) - there's definitely no harm in trying!

Quit worrying about rankings and which houses will take you. Concern yourself with the houses that WANT you!

UCLA's greek system is not that selective. Don't listen to these girls. They're just trying to make it sound exclusive. It really isn't. Rush and you'll find a house you love. Or don't rush and enjoy your independence. Either way, you'll be fine.
