open your minds

It's so terribly sad to read these assessments on women's sororities based on "hotness." The reality is that your generation should be much more evolved now in 2014 and realize that great women are so much more than their perceived attractiveness. Do we really need to once again talk about how women are multi-faceted and should be valued for qualities such as intelligence, compassion, dedication, charitable endeavors, assertiveness, kindness, high moral character, astuteness, business acumen, athletic ability, and so many other qualities. As a former Theta from a top-10 university who is now in her 50's and runs a multi-million dollar design business and is still close to many of my Theta sisters, I hope that when my smart, kind, athletic daughter rushes this fall, she will make her decision based on finding a sorority filled with women who have these kind of meaningful qualities that make for incredible lifelong friendships and a successful, fulfilled life.
