stuck in a predicament
by: MarcoPoloI got a couple bids from a couple houses but i’m not sure if they’re for me. I’ve heard Pike doesn’t have a house so I don’t know if that’s worth it but they do have a big name and all that, the guys at delta sig seem really nice but they’re not a top house or anything so i’m not sure how much that matters, Sigma Pi has cool guys too and their house is nice but i know nothing else about them. What are these frats known for and how do i go about this?

I’m in another fraternity so take this with a grain of salt. I also don’t know anyone in all 3 houses so I’m going off of rep and some stereotypes. Don’t worry about the National rep of fraternity. What matters is the local chapter you are joining. Sure PIKE is big at FSU and other places but not at ucla. You will be with your chapter 24/7 not the other people across the country. Between the three Sig Pi will have the “best events” if that means anything to you. They’re still on the lower end of fraternities. Delta Sig is going for the “non fraternity” fraternity niche. Pi Kapp is iffy since they rent out part of that house but Reddit showed how iffy their relationship is with their landlord. Just join the house whose guys you vibe with the most. It’s 4 years so choose a place you will be active in the whole time.

I know a couple guys in all four actually so I’ll try to be objective about it: the second and third comments said it pretty well. Pike just returned on campus and hasn’t had anything established yet to be a legitimate frat. Sig Pi and Pi kapp have different vibes from Dsig but they’re all around the mid tier. Sig Pi is decent but will have the better events and parties out of these houses. Pi kapp has chill guys overall, but they have trouble paying for their house so whether they’ll be able to keep it is in question. Dsig is similar rank but go for the vibe of not being a classic frat. But all in all find your fit, which matters most.
