People think starting new houses is a good thing because when people go through sorority and fraternity recruitment, but no one wants to join a bottom tier house. Middle tier is kinda ok, but bottom is a no no. The only houses at UCLA that actually matter, in my opinion, is Kappa Alpha Theta, Kappa Kappa Gamma, Delta Gamma, Pi Beta Phi, Alpha Phi, Chi Omega, Gamma Phi Beta, Zeta Beta Tau, Sigma Chi, Sigma Alpha Epsilon, Sigma Phi Epsilon, Lambda Chi Alpha, Beta Theta Pi, and Theta Chi (only because this house always argues with ZBT on this site and I find it hilarious. But still, don't join this frat.) When a new house comes to the row, or a new sorority that may not have a house at all, It'll just be another bottom tier house that everyone will avoid and skip at rush. So we'll pretty much have more girls getting bids but more bottom tier losers in the Greek community. Ugh.

I think AGD is doing a really great job in publicizing their recolonization, and I wish them all the luck. They're also in the process of recolonizing USC and SDSU, so it could either distract them from doing a good job here, or they could get really good at colonizing in SoCal because of it. We'll have to wait to see.
The chapters at UCLA have grown so much over the last couple of years that I think it's made it hard for sororities to have a clear type of girl they get in recruitment anymore. There are randoms in every house - good and bad.
Alpha Chi didn't do a particularly great job when they recolonized, so don't necessarily use them as an example. I think we're ripe to have a new chapter come in and easily slip in above KD/AChiO/TridDelt if they do a good job with the colony class.
