all the fraternities are great options! typically the "normal" guys- so to speak- join either sigma chi, sig ep, zit, or sae.

ZBT- current top house at UCLA, Super fratty, Athletic jock types, Alpha males, super hot, best parties along with SAE, close with the top sororities, and off of probation in fall so theyll be raging HARD.

SAE- similar to ZBT, really fratty, hot, but always in trouble, been on probation for year and might get kicked off soon (but have been on the verge of getting kicked off for a long time), still on probation in the fall, tight with top sororities thought

sig ep- chill guys, nice, not super hot tho but good parties and tight with A phi

Sig Chi- Pregame house, try to hard to be fratty but still make it to the top tier

Theres no real rankings in the top 4. Different girls hang with different houses, each have their own. C-sesh has been sigma chi, SAE, Sig Ep. ZBT hasnt done much and not many girls are even living in. just pick a house where you fit in and dont try to fit into some house because you think its the "best" one.

Check out SAE ZBT Sig Chi and Sig Ep during rush for sure, they're the houses that a lot of people generally agree are on top.
About your second question, it is pretty difficult to get into good parties without being in a fraternity.
As far as reputations go, I agree pretty much all the way with what Sperrys said, except I think he downplayed Sig Chi a bit too much, and DG hangs out with ZBT not Sig Ep.

Don't stress too much man, and don't read into too much of what you see on this website - its incredibly subjective. Just be yourself during rush and you'll find the right house.

1. ZBT- fratty hottest guys can be douchey if u don't know them, jock types have great parties always have kappas And DGs over with some alpha Phis thetas and alot of Pi Phis
2. SAE- fratty, older guys are reallyy hot, younger not so much, douchey, jock type also, good parties but always on probation also hang out with kappa and then theta, with some DGs and some alpha Phis, lots of Pi Phis as well
3. Sig Ep- nice guys, so chill, not that fratty, fun parties, not the best looking guys but suuuper close with alpha phi and also theta, see some DGs and some Pi Phis, rarely see kappas
4. Sig chi- try hard to be fratty doesn't work, used as a pregame house by girls, generally shorter with some good looking ppl, parties end early, not particularly close with any one or two sororities but instead get visited by small groups from each top house and used by all people/ girls to pregame the night

If you're just planning on going out on weekends, Greek life might not be for you. Date parties/raids are on Tuesdays and Wednesdays and the biggest night to party is on Thursdays. Also, speaking from a "mid tier" house, definitely give more than just those four houses a chance. Most greek guys are pretty chill. I'll at least save you a little time: skip Theta Chi, DTD, AEPi, and Triangle.
