dropping out of my sorority

by:

I know it's been a short amount of time, but im considering dropping out of greek life. I just feel really like an outcast and I'm not sure that the activities and things are really for me. I obviously don't want to jump the gun and have regrets, but I'm not sure how long it takes to settle in. How long did it take any of you who are actually in UCLA greek life to feel at home/like you belonged? I don't think its necessarily an issue specific to my chapter, but rather greek life as a whole

i rushed last fall as a junior transfer and i was in your same position at this point last year. i fell in love with a house the first day and eventually received a bid from them, so i was shocked that i didnt feel at home right away. it took until i got my big to finally start feeling like i belonged, she introduced me to lots of new people and I got really close to my twin. i now have a great group of friends that i wouldnt trade for the world, and i cant believe was really close to dropping. my advice, wait it out for atleast a month or two and then make a decision. i guarantee youll find some amazing people by winter quarter

I agree. Give it some time. Wait till you get your big, become initiated, meet more girls.
I know most people are about partying and if you’re not maybe that’s why you feel you aren’t making bonds as fast. Most of the girls start going out together and these outings really start to form their friendships (I’m not saying you should party if that’s not your style) all I’m saying is maybe this is the reason why you don’t feel at home just yet. It may take longer for you to form these bonds. But I’m sure they will come. It took me until somewhere mid winter quarter to finally really feel comfortable and at home and have my own smaller group of friends within the house
Be patient it’s totally ok and normal to not get there as fast as other girls. Don’t give up and don’t blame yourself for it it’ll happen
