frat tiers - fall '18

Welcome to all the new dudes. If you're on greekrank you're already on the wrong path, but it's a mistake we all made before. As you go into rush I hope you take time to visit more than 4-5 houses even if it's for just a few minutes each. A 15-minute stint in a house can tell you all you need to know about if it's a good fit. I'm going to give you a few different categories (tiers if you want to call them that) of houses, and individual house reputations in the cases where I know them. This isn't a ranking, but it should give you an idea of where you might want to try rushing.

Parties often with Theta, DG, Aphi, Kappa:
Sig Chi - Known for having a surfer vibe. They throw down often and fill the house up well, but tend to get shut down early due to their proximity to campus.
SAE - The 'frat' frat. Lot's of athletes, lots of families with connections. Throw the best-decorated parties with the best alcohol, but are still working to repair their reputation after repeated incidents.
SigEp - Kind of a weird mixture of 'fratty' qualities and normal guys. They threw great parties last year and are telling everyone that that's going to continue despite the new nationals rules. After being here over the Summer the dry thing doesn't look like it's going to affect them much.
ZBT - Lots of cool dudes who love to just have fun. Their straightforward and easygoing, but their house is in need of a serious redo. Rumors of social probation are floating around after an incident from a few years ago came to light.

Parties with everyone
LXA - Good group of guys who party with a bunch of people from on the row and off the row. They had a good PC last year, and while it's a running joke that they're top house they still definitely hold their own.
Sig Nu - Mixed bag in my opinion. They have a big party culture so if you're here to booze, check them out.

Parties with everyone but mostly geeds

Phi Psi - Chill dudes. Sick house. Desperate to fill that house. Definitely did better this year than before, but they need some luck at rush to actually become a 'good house' (bear in mind all houses are good in their own right).

Hope this gives someone a little insight. Don't try to fake your way into a 'good house.'Every house is good in its own right.
