fall vs. winter quarter rush
by: UCLA2017Hey guys! I'm an incoming 2017 Bruin, and am thinking about rushing a sorority. I think I would prefer to use fall quarter to get a feel for the greek presence on campus, decide for sure if I'd like to rush, then rush at the start of winter quarter. However, I'm not sure how the process is different from fall to winter. Is fall more intense since there are more girls? Is it harder to get a bid during winter rush? Just wondering pros/cons of both. Thanks!

Go through fall recruitment. It's a valuable experience to meet all the chapters and see what they're about.
Not all the chapters will do winter or spring recruitment, because several chapters will be over chapter total (maximum chapter size - Panhellenic sets this limit at about average chapter size after fall recruitment, so several chapters will always be over the limit).
If you're shy and come across better after you've spent time in classes and activities with people, then it might be better to go through recruitment in winter/spring, but I'd recommend at least signing up for fall and going through the first day.
