cob vs rushing as a sophomore?
by: xxI rushed in the fall but dropped half way through because I was set on one of the top houses (DG) and they dropped me on the third day. I've since realized that I would've been very happy in one of the mid tier houses (g phi) that had continuously invited me back. I was hoping they would be doing winter rush but I heard their pledge class is big? I just got an email from a lower tier house inviting me to do COB and i wanna give them a chance since I regretted it last time but I'm conflicted. Will more mid tier houses be doing spring rush? should i try to reach out to my friends in them? Or will I just have better luck rushing in the fall? I want to be in a sorority for the sense of home and fun events but I'm not sure it'd be worth the monetary commitment to join a bottom tier house.

None of the middle tier or top tier are taking extra girls they are all at or above quota. Panhellenic will not allow them to take more girls this year.
At this point take what you can get if you’ve been offered a COB definitely go and try it out.
Rushing as a sophomore, you’ll hear people say is fine. That’s true for FIRST TIME sophomore rushees (aka they didn’t rush as freshmen) but someone who rushes TWICE it’s seen as a negative and makes you less desirable than the first time sophomore rushees and transfer juniors. Since you are all under one quota. I would not recommend rushing AGAIN in formal recruitment especially since some of the chapters (including dg I believe) have a cut once cut always policy. Meaning if you did formal rush and were cut by them (as you were last year) you will automatically have to be cut the next time around. This is not true for all houses it depends on the national policy of each house but usually top houses have too many choices and cuts to make

I really despise girls who get bids during rush and drop out of the process because they THINK they’re better than the house they got. Girl you’re not all that they place oh where you belong
And you’re a mean person for dropping knowing that other girls get cut and out took a space that you eventually vacated because you couldn’t get over yourself
