dropping then rushing next year?
by: not really vibinI rushed this year as a freshman and thought I was going to be happy in my house, but I'm honestly not. I really tried to vibe with the other PNMs these past weeks, but we don't really hang out outside the house and I never actually want to go out with them. I normally just go out with my dorm friends and then go to Monday meetings and some of the raids. I made a few good friends so far, but nothing has really made me think it's worth it to stay in my house. But I do want to be in a sorority, just I don't think I made the right choices for the right reasons throughout the rush process. What would happen if I dropped my sorority and decided to rush next year? Do other houses hold that against you?

Honestly yes. It does not look good if you were in a house for so long and then quit. Makes them think you’re not the sorority type and you might just do that to them making them lose a spot that could go to someone who really wanted it.
Also there will be a lot of first time rushing sophomores and junior transfers and they will be preferred over you. I say this from experience. I rushed this year as a sophomore and three girls in my group, it was their second time rushing. One ended up in axo and the other two dropped because they had a worse schedule than when they rushed the first time by philanthropy Round.
If you really want to be in a sorority stick with what you’ve got. If not maybe sororities aren’t for you.

Also if you’re rushing for a second time just know that some houses have a national “cut once cut always” policy.
I think DG and theta have this policy and there’s a few others.
So if you were already cut from them (in any round) in a previous rush you will be automatically cut if you come by again.
Really be careful because it may not be worth it dropping if you want to be a part of greek life. Being a pledge this far in, dropping and re rushing will probably not work out well

She says below that she just doesn't vibe with the girls in Gphi. That doesn't mean that she wouldn't find a house that she did feel comfortable in. I think she should try again. What a waste of time and mostly $ to not even participate in a house she doesn't have friends in. The flip side of waiting this long to decide is that she gave Gphi a real chance to see if would work and it doesn't seem to be.
