questions regarding sororities, please help!
by: Bri22DorI'm transferring to UCLA this fall and have been thinking about rushing (sorority) but am kinda wondering what my odds are as a junior. I see a lot of mixed answers about juniors rushing and I kinda just want to know if my chances of getting a bid would be high or if I shouldn't put in the time/money to most likely be disappointed. Please no "just try!" Answers or anything like that I just kinda want to get an honest answer!

Ok it's not worth it from one transfer to another. I did it and all the girls in my group who were transfers had major cuts after day 1!!! Most of my friends were dropped or decided to drop themselves from the process. I got a house but it was one that people deem as "bottom tier"
Remember on here people like to say just try it and give you a story about ONE friend they know who had a successful rush. Remember she is the anecdotal exception NOT the norm. The reality is it isn't worth the time or MONEY for transfers. If I had to go back I would not do it I found most of my core friend group through other clubs at ucla. Way more fun and way less expensive.

@Bri22Dor Hi, i think you should def do it. Most sororities take a quota of transfers - even top ones. There is of course no guarantee you will get one you really want but generally if you're not too weird and cute then you should have an ok time. I know some transfers that regretted it a lot not doing it and had trouble finding friends. I met a lot of of friends in my rush group that i still hang out with today. Sorry but I am saying "just try it", this greek community is a lot more lax then other places. Good luck ! :)

Hey! If any transfers are thinking about doing it, I would. I have had a really amazing experience and would o it all over again. That being said just be confident that you are old and not everyone you talk to will be okay with that. I got a lot of "oh...that's cool" when I told girls I was a transfer. But I also got a lot of positive responses too and nearly every house had one girl that I spoke to that didn't view me differently.
All PNMs should be aware that not everyone gets a bid on bid night though, a lot of freshman are cut too. If you are into Greek life though it is worth the shot because the experience and opportunities it provides are incredible.

thank you! I appreciate the honesty! Do you have other recommendations of clubs/etc to look into if I'm looking to be social and meet people?
