Someone posted on a discussion saying that IFC and CSUF aren't approving anymore houses for fraternities so Pike and Sigma Nu will never be able to get a house

That is correct. Any Pike or Sigma Nu that tells you that they are getting a house is either stupid or strait up lying to you. Phi Tau, Pi Kap, Phi Sig, and Dchi are the only ones that will have houses. IFC made this clear multiple times, and NO PIKE the TSU is for all students and is not a house so stop with that.

I'm just curious but what is the reason why they aren't letting them get houses?

Yes this is true. IFC has made it 100% perfectly clear that no more fraternities coming to campus will be allowed to have a fraternity house. Sigma Nu knew this when they were re-chartered a couple years back, and PIKE knew this coming to CSUF as a new fraternity. Don't believe any SN or PIKE saying they do or will have a house. Any future fraternity that joins IFC here at CSUF will not get a house either. Those fraternities that already had a house (Phi Tau, Phi Sig, PiKapp, & DChi) are of course allowed to keep their fraternity houses so long as they don't get kicked off campus. We are the lucky ones!!

I think CSUF & IFC believes it's in the surrounding community's best interest NOT to add anymore fraternity houses, especially on Frat Row. It's simply a liability issue for the school, because way back in the early 2000s and 1990s many fraternities who had houses created a lot of trouble in the surrounding neighborhoods. They all got kicked off campus years and years ago, so that has been resolved.... but no more houses! Too bad for SN & PIKE

It is illegal to even have a fraternity house in the city of Fullerton anymore. One needs to have purchased and registered ones house in the 90s to be seen as a real fraternity house. Pike and Sigma Nu will never be able to have registered fraternity houses with letters on the front in the city of Fullerton. That said they can go and lease/buy/or build a property of their own but as a RESIDENTIAL house in a RESIDENTIAL neighborhood. This means no letters on the house and parties would be broken up by local law enforcement because it would have to be a house in a residential zone with other normal neighbors who im sure would not appreciate having a fraternity house next door. So if you hear rumors about any houses being built and paid for by nationals at most all anyone will get is a really nice house that you cannot use besides a place to meet and sleep in. Thats the end of it and the reality of it whether or not anyones willing to admit it. If you are angry at your fraternity for rushing you with promises of epic fraternity parties in a brand new million dollar home than I am sorry but your dreams are all for not. You may get a nice house but thats all itll be, just a nice house.

To operate an official fraternity house in the City of Fullerton you must have a conditional use permit issued and approved by the city. This allows the fraternities to post letters on their house for the public to see, and allows for the house to be registered under the organization. These permits are issued only in neighborhoods zoned for student housing like Teri Pl/Frat Row. To abide to the conditions of the permits, the current fraternity houses must pass inspections by the Fire Marshall and to all zoning and noise laws etc. However, the City of Fullerton has INDEFINATELY SUSPENDED issuing these permits for fraternity houses years and years ago. There has been too many problems in the past with out of control fraternity houses, so the city no longer accepts applications for the conditional use permits for fraternities. The houses (Phi Tau, PiKapp, DChi & Phi Sig) that maintained their permits before the issuance was suspended many years ago have been able to keep these permits valid. That being said, PIKE can buy a house, most likely in a quiet, family residential neighborhood not zoned for student housing. But they won't be able to post letters on the outside of their house, have big parties or call it an OFFICIAL fraternity house, because they will NOT be able to get the permit that will allow them to do this legally. If they do those things, the city will shut them down and fine them generously.

How do I know this??

1. To prove it I called city hall and asked (before I began my internship)
2. I interned at city hall for a short time and later confirmed this.
