real talk people

by: Get real

You all should stop worrying about ranking and maybe all work together to make Greek life something the campus actually wants and respects?

It's not gonna matter who was "top house" when the campus decides to remove all Fraternities/Sororities because of stupid actions. Don't think it's coming? Look closer, no office on campus is going to stick their neck out for Greek life.
Get real people.

This won't happen since Greek life doesn't want to do any actual good work. They just want to have their dances and parties, pretend philanthropy is their top priority and talk đź’© on each other.

That is very ignorant of you to say. You can’t generalize a whole population based off a few individuals. These organizations do so much good for the world and you’re not even recognizing that. Maybe you’ll see it one day when you’re on the receiving end of their charity!

The national organizations do great work for many great causes but at Fullerton, I'll believe it when chapters spend or raise as much money for philanthropy as they spend on dances. I am not generalizing based on individuals, I am generalizing off of the resources put in by the Fullerton chapters.
I used to be in a sorority and in my experience, the dance budgets are $10,000-30,000 each year. While many chapters only raise around $5,000-10,000 for their philanthropy each year, sometimes it was more depending on the marketing that year. For the community, they'll make money or item donations, but very rare do chapters actually spend time with the community on a regular basis. Its sad to think that some girls spend more time picking out formal and preference dresses than with people impacted by their philanthropic efforts. Most events or fundraisers are to fulfill the requirements set by the national organization.. but not much more.

This is not to say that there are no individuals who are exceptions to this. Those people are great and I wish whole chapters had their level of dedication. But overall, when the operations prioritize the dance funding so dramatically, you see where the real priority of the chapters are. I wish it wasn't this way and that Fullerton chapters were more engaged with service, but that's just how it is right now.
