transferring
by: Illinois GreekI'm transferring here this upcoming fall from Illinois and I was wondering what Greek life is like at this campus. I'm already an active member of one these fraternities at my current university (won't say which fraternity) and I'm debating on whether or not I should try to become an active member again when I transfer. What are the fraternities at this school like ?

Honestly this is a hard question to answer, especially because you are coming from a school with a lot of fraternities with large houses and huge social calendars, which is basically the opposite of fraternities at CSUF. Only four of the fraternities on campus have houses. Here's a low down of all the ones on campus. FYI I am in one of these fraternities and please don't base your choice off the ranks on here as they are all self ranks.
In no particular order:
Phi Sigma Kappa: Have a house on the row with a pool. My understanding is they are a small fraternity but somewhat good brother hood. Don't hear much about their parties.
Alpha Epsilon Pi: Just joined campus last spring. No house. Don't know much about them.
Sigma Pi: Just came back to campus this spring. No house and are trying to make a come back.
Pi Kappa Alpha: one of the largest if not the largest fraternities on campus. No house. Throw parties at satellite houses. Also probably the most hated fraternity on campus. They give almost anyone a bid.
Pi Kappa Phi: Have a house on the row and recently got Introuble with their nationals and the school but are making the comeback this semester. Threw a couple good parties this semester.
Phi Kappa Tau: Have a house and just came off a Greek week win. Throw pretty good parties when they aren't in trouble.
Delta Chi: Have a house and recently on the up and coming after their Greek week win last year. Throw good parties but do struggle with brotherhood as of recent.

Greek week is huge, probably the biggest week we have, and winning it means a lot but there a lot of competitiveness involved. But agreed, phi tau, dchi and Pi kapp (barely) are the most relevant houses. Pike has some good followers but as a whole I wouldn't recommend. The rest are basically irrelevant, choose wisely
