How likely would it be for a girl to be cut from every house?

What are your circumstances? Why do you think you would be cut from every house? If you have a low GPA then yes. However, if its cause you think you aren't pretty, or overweight, don't have recs, have little money? They're are different sororities that cut for different reasons. But honestly other than grades there shouldn't be a reason you should be cut from every house. You might not go top 5. However there is a sisterhood here for you. Not every girl is the prettiest in every sorority. Some have over weight girl. Not all of us are rich and need payment plans. Some of us are first generations college students and therefor have no recs. There are girls in sororities like you and they will see that and know what you have to offer.

What are your circumstances or worries and Ill try to help you out?

Well I know my sorority cuts at 3.0. I would recommend focusing on just getting your grades up in the fall and rush in the spring. It wont be as "glamorous" however if you can get your GPA up it will be better for you personally. Plus there will be quite a few girls who wait to rush in the spring as well, just to get accustom to college life first. Do you have any connections? Did you go to a private high school? Is there anything else that may be used for recruiting in your favor? Wealthy family? anything? Its not the end of the world if you have to wait. Its just not every sorority takes girls in the spring.

I'm not new to tech I'm a sophomore so getting use to the college life is what got my gpa where it is. My high school gpa is higher

This is excellent advice. Unfortunately, you may have some problems rushing in the Fall. Don't forget that Alpha Xi Delta is colonizing at Tech. This could be an excellent choice for you. Just be open during your interviews with them and they may give you a chance. It is a great opportunity for leadership too.

I think I might be too late in the spring

Well I think you may just have to wing it and see what happens. I still believe you should wait and get your GPA at least a 3.0. And in my sorority that's not all you will need. My advice is rush in the fall and see. If all else fails if you're committed, try to make connections and stay in touch if you don't get selected. Get your GPA up and rush in the spring.

AXID is colonizing, but it takes several years to establish any momentum what so ever. Plus AXID will mostly be mixing with either the very bottom fraternities or other Tech social clubs who aren't IFC. I honestly wouldn't recommend going AXID. Keep an open mind though because I could very well be wrong. But what I said above is absolutely true. You might love your sisters, but the social life will be non-existent. Plus AXID may be gone in as little as a year or two if they cannot establish themselves. I know i'm being a little too much of a devils advocate by saying that. But Tech is very competitive and IDK if they'll be able to make it. But that's why you take risks in life, you never know what will happen.

In my personal opinion your game plan should be to either: Rush this fall and make connections and see what happens, or bust your tail to get that GPA up. I mean no going out, no nothing really. Just get that GPA up. A sorority is worth too much to give up and is worth doing nothing but focusing of grades.

Ohh and what else do you have going in your favor? Are you involved in other campus orgs? Did you go to a great high school? Although since your a soph I don't think that will matter at this point, however, it will still be brought up. What else can you offer a sorority?

I went to a big highschool and a lot of girls from it have leadership positions in sororities at tech now. I am also involved in church and have a lot of volunteer hours. I don't have many friends in sororities at tech but I know a lot of girls just because my bf is in a fraternity

Do those girls in leadership positions like you? lol I meant more of a prestigious high school not a big one. But the fact that you know some people is a great thing. You should rush and see what happens. Make more connections and get involved in more student orgs at Tech. Just know that the GPA will hold you back from top and maybe most sororities. Unless you're very beautiful lol. Don't mention your BF is in a fraternity either, the sororities wont care. I hate to say it but its true. If they already know and bring it up then that's fine. Say the right things. Like, "I'm committed to bringing my GPA up and want to join a sisterhood and be apart of something greater than myself," Or something like that lol. Just rush and see what happens. Say the right things and let them know you're committed. If the worst happens and you don't get selected, join other student orgs, raise your GPA and rush in the spring.

Go through recruitment and put your best foot forward. Be friendly, positive and show interest at every party. Hopefully you have pursued getting recs for each house. For the statistics of girls who end up with no house, it's 99% because girls dropped themselves...usually because the house they wanted dropped them and their butthurt is strong. If you do get cut from all, you might be contacted for a snap bid and you can try colonizing with AXiD. Worst case, focus on grades and try again in spring. Many chapters have no problem pledging non-freshmen. Good luck!

@Nickname - Let's not start bashing AXid before they even arrive. Tech desperately needs another sorority and all the chapters should be supportive. Even if the experience is not the same for sisters as the other chapters the first few years...let's not forget that sisterhood is for a LIFETIME. So what if they have mixers with "bottom tier" frats. Seriously, that is just such a lame comment. That's not the #1 reason for joining a sorority...or at least, it shouldn't be.

Exactly! There are so many great things about being a part of a sorority and mixers are one small part!! The majority of tech Greeks are going to be very supportive of AXiD and they will be included in everything. My guess is they will have an excellent initial pledge class.

In no way was I bashing AXID. I said I could very well be wrong. Literally I said I could be wrong lol. But have you ever heard stories from sororities colonizing? Look up the colonizing stats. Most do not work out because girls drop because they cannot get momentum. I never said the social life is the top reason. But when every one is rejecting you socially it effects a girls self-esteem negatively. I am clearly not here to bash. However, there is no point to not be real with PNM. And the AXID rout may turn out. However, there is risk.

There is risk in joining any sorority. Every chapter has girls who drop or are removed. Life is a risk. There is a risk each day of rush when girls get their party list. Most girls experience some disappointment during the week. If you have some marks against you as a PNM, but want the Greek experience, then you need to be open to all options. Being in a "top tier" sorority is not the end all of the universe, but the sisterhood during college and the alumni experience beyond is worth more than a silly ranking on this site. I would strongly recommend that ALL PNM's keep an open mind to all the chapters, go through the process and give your all to the chapter that selects you to join.

I'm also curious about this topic as well. Which sorority are you in that's a 3.0? I thought most were 3.5

Yes we cut grades first thing. That's why I said you'll need more than grades to get into my sorority. We already expect a 3.0 which is a average score. 4.0 is perfect score. Then we take into account everything else, like the girl says. But yes grades are the first cut. However, if someone likes you or other circumstances you may get a pass. I wouldn't count on it though. Grades come first and foremost.

when going through rush, is it bad to say that you are nervous?
or to say that you're afraid to not get a bid....
