I regret rushing small greek
by: ragratsTitle says it all. I rushed small greek thinking the brotherhood would be better than the frats w a lodge and I was wrong. It took about a week for me to realize I was surrounded by geeds. We haven’t had a single mixer, all we’ve had was one house party that flopped. I went to better parties in high school. Should I leave my current situation and rush spring?? Do all frat take pledges in the spring?? If so which ones do or don’t?? Am I overreacting here?? Any help would be soo appreciated

To add on, I don’t really vibe with the entire chapter. There are a few guys I like and have become good friends with but that’s really it. I’m just having a tough time figuring out what to do. I don’t want to be stuck here if it’s always going to be this bad. I envy the frats that are doing stuff literally all the time and have a house

i was in the same situation and i dropped. i didn’t really fit in and there was no parties or mixers. i’m gonna rush in the spring to see how it goes. if it didn’t work out for you don’t pay for something you’re not gonna enjoy. college is 4 years don’t be in something just for the title. i’m still friends with some of the pledges. they won’t hate you this isn’t the first time someone’s dropped.

As someone who is a senior in a “bottom tier” frat I can say there’s virtually NO benefit to joining a small greek chapter.. if the social scene matters to u (which it should if we’re being honest) then I would leave.. you’ll be stuck with the worst guys during rush, the weirdest girls at parties and constantly struggle to find sororities to do mixers with and find places to throw parties at.. it really sucks not having a name or any recognition on campus too. don’t get me wrong I love my chapter but i understand that it’s not for everyone.. the only reason that I didn’t leave is because it’s 1) cheap as hell and 2) a great resource to pad your resume w chair positions… i also don’t mind the guys my age in the chapter.. but if I’m you I’d leave and go big greek.. you’ll be able to meet more ppl and have an opportunity to make more friends anyways.. if you can suffer thru the pledge ship and pay the added dues then go for it

any frats with a lodge in Greek Circle is hard to get into. The easiest one you can get into is Delta Chi. They literally accept anybody. If you go to all the frats instagram page and compare their pledges from one another, you may have the idea of what type of guys they are looking for and where you might be a good fit. Start making friends with the actives and even the pledges of the frats you want to rush next semester so they already know who you are and can vouch for you if you’re a good fit for them.
