spring rush questions

Transferring to tech this spring and someone told me that its good to contact fraternities through their website and tell them you/re interested about spring rush. Is that a good idea? sounds like it makes you look desperate

most fraternity's will have fb pages for rush, just add them and contact them. they are always looking for new guys!
