i’m really glad there are girls like you. i backed out of rushing because i was scared i was going to get dropped or get dirty looks from white girls. i really want to join a sorority and have girls i can truly call sisters and i sincerely hope i can find my people this coming semester.

Majority of girls that rush are “white skinny blonde/brunette” therefore a majority of girls in sororities fit this description. Majority of PoC that are interested in joining Greek life just a black/ multicultural sorority.
If PoC don’t want to join Panhellenic sororities why are Panhellenic sororities blamed?

Somehow, magically though other houses manage to be more diverse?!
Same pool of PNM’s and other houses somehow end up with more diversity?

But, I can bet you this- these three houses & their image driven motives will all of a sudden find some diversity this year. Cause you know....don’t want to look bad. Magic. Smh

this is stupid as HELL. MGC and NPHC are really small compared to IFC and CPH. most chapters have 10-50 members while IFC and CPH have 90-250. as a POC, trust me i would rather be in a CPH sorority. there’s just higher grade standards and better opportunities. there’s no denying there’s a race issue in CPH and IFC.

i can assure you that the reason some PoC would rather be in MGC and NPHC organizations these days are because they feel more comfortable around their own people. MGC and NPHC orgs were created because of racism. as a latina, coming to a predominantly white college was kinda hard. but i want to rush because i want to fit in and meet different people. also, the MGC sororities just don’t seem to be my type, so i’m going through primary recruitment. it’s not about who would rather join what. it’s about being scared of racism in CPH and IFC.

There is a big difference between a chapter average of 3.5 and 3.0.
There is a big difference when chapters have 50 - 100 more members than others.

Ok Boomer.
No one goes through recruitment as a Pnm thinking oh these are cool girls wonder what their gpa is. Ohhh the other house has a 3.42 and this one has a 3.25 ewwwwww
Too many moms on this site.
What is and what should be important to girls under 20 (30? 40?50?) is how inclusive a house is.
These three are not.
They had the same opportunities as every other house to invite girls who didn’t look just like themselves & for the most part they didn’t.
The fact that you keep bringing up grades just shows how much you don’t get it.

Almost 40,000 students at tech, couple thousand greeks. As much as some people try to make you think everyone cares what house you join- no one cares.
Bottom line it’s a business.
More members more $
More members & $ regionally, more $ for national org.
Don’t fall for what “looks” the best during the “sell” of recruitment. (Sorority girls could give used care salesmen a run for their money) Go to where you feel most at home.
