I'm attending this fall from out of state (Missouri) and was wondering if anyone could give me some advice on rushing. Do fraternities at Tech get most of there recruits from formal or informal rush? Will I be able to get into a decent house if I only go through formal rush? Will being from out of state put me at much of a disadvantage?

Rushee, don't listen to this guy. Being from out of state will literally put you at zero disadvantage. Formal rush is the way to go, however. You're also doing yourself a disservice if you go through informal rush, unless you're already close with a group of guys in the same fraternity.

I agree with that. Although take a look at ATO, Sigma Nu, and Delta Sig. I consider those three fraternities, as well as KA, Kappa Sig, and Sig Ep to be middle tier....just depends on which three you like. Some prefer the KA, Kappa Sig, Sig Ep trio and vice versa with ATO, Sigma Nu, and Delta Sig. Matter of preference. But these 6 fraternities are all in league with other, after the top 4 and way better than the bottom frats.

Most of the schools I know of in Missouri get most of there recruits from informal recruitment so by the time formal rush comes around most of the pledge class has been filled and its difficult to get a bid. Is that the way it is here? Since I dont know hardly anyone at Tech and will be spending most of the summer in Missouri should I just plan on doing formal recruitment and hope for the best?
