so sad
by: WowIt’s been over a month but I’m still shocked APhi never posted anything about their former sister who passed away. She was still a Tech student just wow....

I think there's something to be said for being discreet and private when it comes to grief and mourning.
Last year there was a girl at another school who died tragically. She was a pledge of a small non-PH Christian sorority, and several of the actives got themselves on the local news and talked about how loved and missed she was when they barely even knew her. It was cringey to the extreme because it was an obvious bid to raise their profile and their relevance.

I am disgusted that y’all think it’s okay to discuss this over social media. Definitely not something to be discussed on a website where entertainment stems from gossip. And that is definitely NOT something to be questioning the sisterhood about. Her friends & family have been trying to grieve and seeing this just opens an unnecessary wound.

There are so many things you don’t know that happened behind the scenes, yet you felt the need to address this anonymously and on a website that does not accurately portray ANY sorority at Texas Tech??? Here is the thing, Alpha Phi has an incredible sisterhood and this is coming from someone who was a friend of the girl who passed and in a different sorority than her. Alpha Phi was very limited on what they could do in terms of posting a message for the girl, her sisters, and her family due to her parents wishes. Regardless, alpha phi had a memorial where her sisters were free to mourn for her and have access to resources like counselors. Alpha phi even reached out to me to see if I’m okay, and again, I’m not in that sorority.
For anyone reading, I hope you are seeing the impact of gossip. It hurts. This is painful for not only me but to any friend of the girl who passed. Love people everyday and don’t speak on things you would never in person
