cuts?
by: PNMHow do sororities choose what girls to cut? I feel like so many times really nice girls who have awesome convos still get cut and I guess i’m just curious as to how houses approach that?

There are a lot of girls who have great conversation skills and a good time with each house- some of these girls get cut due to low GPA and not enough community service or HS involvement on their reg. Cuts are huge the first day so essentially houses have to look for reasons to cut girls. This is where rec letters are soooo important because we use them as deciding factors a lot. It really helps to have alumna who will rave about you and tell us more about you. It is taken quite seriously even if the website says they aren't required!! If you have a high GPA and a great service and involvement record, houses will consider that too. Girls who are full package PNMs (rec letters, awesome convos, social, pretty, high GPA) will likely make most first cuts. It is good to have a great convo and make yourself memorable so the girls who rushed you will stick up for you when it comes to cuts!! Remember, the sororities choose you, you don't choose them. They cut YOU. You will be happy wherever you land because you know that sorority fought for you until the end!! They chose you! Good luck in recruitment!

That depends which one! GPA and rec letters and hands down the most important in our decisions for cuts. 3.0 GPA and above is ideal for most houses and top houses usually pull only 3.5 or above girls. Just make sure you are memorable and have a good connection with the girls you visit with and you will be fine!

What if a girl has all of those qualities but lacks one? Will houses forgive that and not cut her just because of one low quality?
