to be real with you- you can almost consider yourself cut from most top tier houses. i am in what could be considered a top house, and we are concerned about girls with a 3.0 gpa sometimes. most low gpa girls will be cut on the first day. for other houses the cut off is 2.8 atleast. dont worry though!! let your personality shine and make sure to show your other qualities and show sororities how committed you are to your school now that you are in college. i am sure you will find a home on greek row!! a friend of mine had a 2.6 gpa and ended up in a house she loved

If there is a LEGIT reason why your GPA is low (a death in the family, an undiagnosed learning disability, illness, etc), I would definitely make that clear on the FIRST day of rush. If there isn't a reason for it, don't talk about your grades at all. You'll experience heavy cuts on the first day, probably from at least half of the houses I would imagine. After the first day, you should be in the clear as far as grade cuts go. As long as you have an open mind and shine in other areas, you could definitely have a successful rush!

So you’re saying no matter what I’ll pretty much be cut from all the top houses and more? I’m still deciding if I want to sign up or not

I'll be honest, if you haven't signed up yet I'm assuming you also don't have letters of recommendation. That, in play with the low GPA will most definitely get you cut from the "top" houses. If you're looking for the sorority experience (not the top house experience), I imagine you would be able to find a home somewhere. It only takes one house! I definitely recommend signing up, because at the very least you will meet some great girls in your rush group and just throughout the process. If you aren't happy with the houses you have left at the end, you can always drop. And at the end of the day, you've probably made a dozen friends. Sounds like a great way to start your year if you ask me! There really is no downside to going through recruitment, so I'd definitely go for it, just be prepared to face heavy cuts. If you do decide to sign up, I would try really hard and scramble for at least a few letters of recommendation!

Let’s just say you have a 3.5, you still may get cut from a lot of houses (even if you were a cheerleader - every house has those cuts those-pretty etc)
I wouldn’t sit out & miss being Greek, when if you wait you may still end up in a house you would have gotten in the first place.
Any house is better then GDI
If you struggled in high school, chances are you probably won’t have a 3.0 in college right away, so if you end up being a sophomore with a 2.5 you can almost forget a bid from any house.
Good luck.
