sorority concerns

So recently I decided to attend Tech for the next fall semester through the gateway program and I've always wanted to rush but my GPA is at a 2.5 because of lots of personal issues I went through during my first 2 high school years! I evidently stepped it up junior yr and I"m excelling my senior year but it's too late to raise my GPA. I"m worried that this will effect my rushing experience? Take into consideration I"m pretty involved in my school, do community service and take dual-enrollement classes where I had above a 3.0 GPA through the community college classes. Is academic standings everything? Should I even bother to rush?
