Will any houses cut you if you didn't send in a rec

Yes, if you do not have a rec, you will be cut. HOWEVER, if they LOVE you at the parties, you have a great gpa, etc. then they can call on a local alum to write one for you. But you are much safer getting one in advance. In fact, some house use a points system to make their cut off list and more than one rec can keep you on the list longer.
