sorority question?

by:

Ixm a freshman this year and I plan on rushing this fall. My gpa might be a 2.998 because my math class. Is this too low to rush? Or will some sororities overlook that? If so which ones? I have letters of rec for the sororities I like more? (Middle & low tier)

You'll most likely be cut from every sorority besides axid and adpi the first two days of recruitment. Sorry to be so harsh but sororities will look at it as "if she can't get a 3.0 in high school how will she get a 3.0 in college. Most sororities have a 3.0 cut off at the LEAST.

Hey sorry for the confusion, I'm rushing as a sophomore in college. I had a 3.5 in high school.

In college that's just as bad. To be competitive as a sophomore you're going to need at least a 3.3 ish with connections and good extracurriculars.

Well I plan on getting letters of recommendation and I'm involved on alot/I volunteer. So the main sororities I want to be in such as DG, KD, Chi O, AXO, and Alpha Phi won't look at me if I have a 3.1? Worse case I'll drop to a 2.998.

You need to do everything possible to be at a 3.1 and not a 2.998, I don't know for sure what sophomore GPA cutoff those sororities have but I'd be willing to bet it's a 3.0, and if you have a 2.998 you're automatically a grade risk even if it's super close! Being a sophomore grade risk would be an automatic drop from all of those sororities I bet! Typically as long as your above grade cutoff it doesn't matter how close to it you are, so ace finals!!!

Just because a sorority has a low GPA doesn't mean they don't have a strict cutoff for grades, especially for sophomores. Normally they raise their cut off because they' want to improve their GPA. Alpha phi has a higher grade cut than you would think. Their overall is low bc they are the only sorority that is required to send in ALL their girls' GPA, even ones who have failed. Your chances are low but you might as well try. Just don't expect anything
