I'm considering transferring to Tech in the fall so I'll be a sophomore. I really wanted to rush but I heard that it's almost impossible to get into a sorority as a sophomore or with no connections at Tech. I considered spring recruitment at my current college but I don't want to get close with a group of girls only to leave. Is it true I won't get called back to a lot of houses because I'm going to be a sophomore?

For girls is hard but for guys it's not hard one bit. It's almost not fair. But you will be fine. I know plenty of girls who get the house they want. And occasionally the jr haha

I had a great experience rushing as a sophomore and obviously since this is anonymous I feel like I can be 100% upfront about it. I got dropped by one house which was completely different than I had expected, I was so afraid to get dropped by every house because I was older. I had some good friends at tech in 2 of the middle/lower tier houses but other than that I didn't know anymore. I really worked hard finding good letters of rec and transferred in from another school with a 3.8. I don't come from money, I didn't have good connections, and am very plain looking. I HONESTLY think that if you are above the grade cutoff you can go into every house and have incredible conversation and any house will take you. Make girls want to be your friend outside of recruitment!

If you go through the process, meet the minimum GPA standards and keep an open mind (meaning do not drop because of butt hurt), you have a 99% chance of receiving a bid. Tech has a more casual recruitment, not like those at SEC schools. You'll be fine.
