I'm a girl so I don't know a ton about fraternity rush, but it's for sure heard of to see guys having successful rushes as sophomores. You may not have as many opportunities as a freshman, but it is nowhere near the struggle sophomore girls go through! If you have a strong connection or tie to a house, that's also good. Fiji and Sigma Nu are both great though and you'd be lucky to go either one!
If any guys have any advice on this feel free to add on some more specific knowledge

Honestly, don't stress yourself out too much about the difference between letters of support and letters of rec. just make sure you at least one REC for every house! Make a recommendation letter packet with pictures/resume/transcript etc. addressed to the sorority house on Greek circle (these addresses are on the TTU Panhellenic website), hand it to the person writing you a rec, and she will know what to do (recommendations are normally submitted online or printed and sent with the packet). For houses I was really interested in coming in, I got more than one rec (2-3). This doesn't look annoying, it shows you're very interested therefore making them more interested in you too. One of my friends got 4 recs for a house...a lot I know... but she really wanted that specific house before and during going through rush and ended up getting a bid from them. I know she wasn't the only one who did that. However, remember quality over quantity. It's better to get one or two GREAT recs for a house rather than a lot. Hi!! I'd have to agree with a lot of what the person above this said, but I have just a few other things. First, to answer your question, a letter of recommendation is more like a form that the alum fills out. There's not a whole lot of room to expand on specifics about who the PNM is as a person. The letter of support is a hand written (usually) letter from an alum that typically knows the PNM pretty well and is able to write a substantial letter about who the PNM is, their personality, their qualities and why they would be a good fit for the chapter. At Tech, rush is competitive, but not nearly as competitive as say Alabama or SMU for example. At those campuses, a letter of support would be much more imperative to have. Here, not really necessary but great to have.
For recs, I would recommend at least one per chapter, and two for the chapters you know you are really really interested in. More than 2 is over doing it, in my opinion. 2 letters is 100% sufficient here at Tech. However, if someone offers you a letter of support or rec I would definitely not turn them away, but I wouldn't be actively looking after you have two.
Lastly, for me, all of my letters of rec were done through email. I think this year the majority of women writing your letters will want it done this way. After asking, I would ask if they want hard copies or electronic then go from there. Hope this helps!

Google your local Panhellenic alumni association and find out when they're having a workshop or contact the group. They will typically have a list of local alumni for each chapter who are willing to write recs. While you don't need to go overboard, some chapters do give pnm's more points for more recs, which might help you squeak by to attend an another party and let them get to know you better.

I'm not sure that the technical answer to this would be, I don't know if it is actually possible for someone to get dropped by every single house. But essentially every person that goes through rush will get a bid from a chapter. The only exception that I could think of is if you have a well known reputation for doing something really terrible.

No, not everybody gets a bid unfortunately. If you have a low GPA, bad attitude, no recs, just plain awkward, etc it's quite possible to not get a bid. Sucks I know but I want to be honest

Sad but it happens because every house has to make cuts.
I would say big reason to get cut is you just act uninterested
If a house thinks you're not interested they will cut you so that spot can be taken by someone who wants to be there. This can happen no matter how cute you are, how many recs you have etc.
Every house wants to make quota too. So if you seem uninterested they won't waste an invitation on you.

If you meet the basic criteria and are a nice person in general and finish the complete recruitment process, you will 99.999% get a bid. You will see numbers of how many started recruitment vs how many got bids. It's deceiving because the majority of pnm's that don't get a bid is because they chose to drop. Not because they were cut from all houses. Some girls freak out when one of their favorites inevitably cuts them and they give up. Don't be that girl! If on bid day you get a house that is bashed on this site, go anyway. Go to the party, meet the other girls, give it a try. You have until initiation to drop and try again. Please keep a totally open mind and stay in recruitment until the end!!!

I think you for sure have a chance with KD or DG especially if you have friends in the house and all other factors are good. Don't get your hopes up though!

If you are close friends with girls in house you should be fine. Most houses won't take more than like 5 sophomores and top 3 won't take more than like 3 sophomores. Best of luck!
