should i rush?

by:

I want nothing more to go through recruitment but due to my dumb self in high school I didn't get the best grades on dual credit classes which brings my GPA down and due to a family death I didn't my first semester of college either, making my GPA rn a 2.6. I know there's spring rush but I would love to rush in the fall while the majority is so I can have my home as quick as possible, but should I even bother with this GPA?

This really really depends on a few things. If you want top/ even some middle tiers, with grades like these you'll need connections. The top houses like Pi phi and tri Delt do automatic cuts for grades under about a 3.3, so you either have to be a super legacy, super amazing, or have a lot of connections to not get cut. The reason for this is because the top houses especially emphasize on having great grades which is a reason they're top houses. For lower houses however, you would still probably need some connections. Not rushing isn't the worst idea, and by making friends and studyi hard you'll probably have a very successful sophomore rush

I rushed this spring and I originally wasn't even going to, I was gonna wait till this fall cuz I wanted to do the big rush with everyone but I'll tell you, there's nothing wrong with spring rush, I had lots of fun and still got to do lots of the same stuff we do in fall rush, just on a smaller scale. (Like a small big/little reveal and a small bid day party, etc)

I would try in the fall, with the understanding that you will not get a top house, and maybe no house at all. If you can go into the process with your emotions in check, I say go for it. The best is that you will find your sisters sooner (and ALL houses are just fine) and the worst is that if you get cut you will at least understand the process better and have some familiarity with the houses. Good luck!
