nervous about hazing
by: 2020Hey guys! I'm the first woman in my family to go to a four year college and planning on rushing. I've heard some horror stories about Texas tech's Greek life and rumors that some groups have gone too far. I don't even know if there is some code where like "the first rule of Greek life is don't talk about Greek life" so I am chill with no one actually answering me, I'm honestly just really nervous. I'm excited to try a lot of new things in college and rushing is one of them! But I don't want to go through anything that will put me in a compromising position I guess. Sorry if I sound really ignorant to the Greek system! I don't mean to, I just don't know what it is like in the slightest. Thanks!

Honestly I was worried about the same thing when I rushed. There are a lot of rules now that prevent hazing and they are getting really strict about it, so it's not very common anymore. My sorority doesn't haze but I'm not sure if that's just us or not. But I'm pretty positive that even if houses do haze, it's nothing bad like what it used to be. Frats are a totally different story, but since you're a girl you should be fine. Good luck!
