the brutally honest truth
by: SorryAs of right now, there are only 3 truly good fraternities at SCU: Pike, Cal Phi, and Sig Pi. Everyone else has either poor housing (Sig Chi and TKE), tons of weird guys (Kappa Sig), or both (literally everyone else). With that being said, if you like the guys in one of these frats, then by all means go rush them, but if you are looking for the fullest fraternity experience (which admittedly isn’t for everyone) there are really only three good options for that as of rn. I know this will probably get a lot of downvotes and people will contest this, but quite frankly this is the current sad state of SCU Greek life.

It's true, compared to other schools our frat scene is pretty abysmal. Of course we can't compare ourselves to big state schools but even our mid tier frats are pretty weird and would be placed in the lower range at those schools (even pike or sig pi would be mid tier or upper mid at those schools). Biggest thing limiting the frat scene is not allowing a longer bid process by which people who get rejected from pike, cal phi or sig pi can rush other frats which I think would really improve the mid tier frats.

The pref system is messed up and needs to be changed (everyone I know who’s in frats at other schools think it’s whack asf when I describe it to them), but it’s not the only thing holding back Greek life. It’s mainly the cops shutting down parties hella early and a couple frats losing their good houses that has brought down Greek life over the past year. It’s such a shame; the party scene was really great when I was a freshman but now it’s really going downhill.
