The main reason there is a wide opinion gap on these guys is because they lack an actual pledge process (they get initiated in less than half the time as the next shortest pledge process, and the overall process is no where near as intense). They earn no respect by any of the other fraternities because of this. That’s what makes this fraternity so much different than the other ones on campus, and it shows in the quality of their brotherhood.

Sig Chi used to be more popular when they had power, and ever since Sig Pi took that house a while back their housing has been lackluster and has caused them to lose popularity. Also, Sig Chi is different as it seems like more of a friend group than a brotherhood and the guys don't spend as much time together as guys in other fraternities do. Part of this is due to a lack of a pledge process, part of it is because they're pretty much all very involved in other things on campus. Depends on what you're looking for.
