age matters

by: ~ ~ ~

So I completely understand why I would not be allowed to know any details of how and why sororities make the decisions for their new PC, but as a sophomore who went through fall recruitment and got called back the first three nights and dropped on pref night...is it true that APhi doesn't even consider sophomores +?

I'm not bitter in any way, everything happens for a reason :) I was just a little disappointed in myself for letting my expectations fly so high. Just wanted to know!

Honestly, just give it time!!! It is way too early to tell! Also, don't let ranking get to you. I chose my sorority over aphi and I really regretted it for maybe a week but now I seriously could not be happier I made that decision! It just depends on who you are and just give it a little bit of time.

Okay thank you for info :) I was just a little defeated because I believed I had such great conversations with all the sisters I spoke to on those nights, but I guess it wasn't always the same on the other side - it happens to everyone

They take about 2 sophomores max per pc and those sophomores have serious connections with APhi already. Its not you I promise

There are high GPA requirements for sophomores so that could be a factor

sororities grade drop after the first round going into the second. you wouldn't be invited back after the first round if your GPA was below the sorority's GPA minimum

My GPA is quite average at this point, not very competitive but holding its own. That could have put my name lower on the bid rank, so when it came down to me or a freshman - Aphi would rather have a younger PC

Honestly it probably wasnt an administrative factor. They may have just not felt you would fit well in the chapter and youre probably now in a chapter where youre going to be happier long term.

I'm actually really considering withdrawing from my chapter, I don't feel comfortable and countless people have told me to just trust the system, but my gut is telling me I don't belong. But really I'm not trying to pin-point EXACTLY what went wrong, I just wanted to shed some light on the situation because I was just so unhappy.

i feel the same way as you, but everyone tells me to give it a few weeks. You shouldn't have to pay dues until the end of the month, so just test things out and get to know people! And if by halloween you still don't feel like there's any chance it could be home for you, then drop and at least you can say you tried it 100% :)

where did you end up? I felt the same way as a sophomore but towards a different chapter who dropped me right before pref night. I don't feel at home in my chapter, I really thought the other one was for me..

there is no need to post when she ended up. i'd assume that's uncomfortable for her and not right to do to the chapter

I'm sorry! I would prefer not to mention which chapter I am currently in. Despite my feelings, it would be wrong to bring them into this and further encourage stereotyping each sorority by ranking :)
