senior...rushing. please read before conclusions.

First I'd like to say I'm a transfer to GW from a small college in California with no Greek Life. Interestingly enough, some other senior transfer from California posted on here about a similar question (small world?). I also saw people on the GW reddit page asking similar questions so there are definitely more than a few senior transfers wanting to rush but questioning it...
Anyway I didn't rush junior year as 1. I had no Idea GW was so Greek involved 2. What Greek life really even was and 3. I thought it'd be easy to make a solid group of friends at GW.
Next year I'll be a senior at GW and was considering rushing. I know it's pretty out of the ordinary to do so but I don't see why not. This year I've had internships, on exec boards of clubs, and even went to random social networking type events and while I've made "friends" I find it SO HARD to form a group of friends.
I was also considering maybe joining that new fraternity that I keep seeing posted about as they would probably want older guys in their first pledge class to even out the age of the member in the fraternity.
What is your opinion on me rushing as a senior? Would you recommend an established fraternity or maybe going for the new one or not even try? Any advice would be nice.
