new fraternities
by: newfAnyone have any buzz on the new fraternities coming to campus next semester? I've heard one old one is coming back and we are introducing a new one...any updates?

Thats not a dumb question. Alumni interview people and give bids after rush for everyone else is over.

Its honestly not really worth it unless
A - you can't get a bid to the frat(s) you like
B - you want to basically start your own fraternity so you and a group of friends join into this new frat you all are basically guaranteed to get into as long as youre normal.

Would it be easier for an upperclassmen to get a bid here? Also, is there a pledge process?

Yes there is a pledge process, and yes they are much more likely to let upperclassmen in, to balance out the younger guys.

I'm sure this is an extremely dumb question but how do new fraternities work? Who gives out bids? Is there no pledging?
