reputation

I know reputation shouldn't be something you really look at, but i cant help but feel bad about getting a mid tier/bottom tier sorority. Will it hurt my chances at attractive guys or having fun at parties? Or my personal reputation on campus?

Don't feel bad. As long as you're cool you'll be fine. You won't have any problem getting into the open parties the top frats have, you just wont mix with them. You'll see them at philanthropies and stuff

The truth? Phi Sig, SDT, or Pi Phi can hurt your rep a bit but you just have to work to prove people wrong. Anything else is fine. Also, Pi Phi isn't that bad.

Mid tier or better, you are absolutely fine. Even best of the bottom can be fine.

Because sororities ultimately exist to mate with fraternities. Traditionally, sororities want to be "top" so they can mix with whichever fraternity they want. But that's not how it works at GW. I know GDIs that get way more guys than some top tier girls. Tier doesn't really matter at GW the way it does at other schools where greek life is everything and if you don't have a mixer to go to on saturday night, you have nothing to do. But people still talk about it because judging other people is basically in our DNA.

you're perfectly fine in any "tier" chapter you're in. phi sig is the only chapter that will truly get you judged by it - i know some really great pi phis / SDTs / AEPhis who know how to have fun and know plenty of guys all over the IFC

If you're concerned with reputation, then there are certain chapters you fit better into and others that don't waste their time worrying about other people's opinions. Being in a "top tier" has some perks, but you shouldn't be joining a sorority to have pretty friends or more guys to hook up with. It's about making your best friends, challenging yourself to be better, and making connections that will help you throughout your entire life. If making 100 new best friends, mentors, study buddies, and drinking buddies isn't enough for you, you're probably joining Greek life for all the wrong reasons.
