1) dont be nervous, some nervousness is obviously expected due to the pressure, but too much can come off as awkward and get in the way of a smooth and engaging conversation (which is key).
2) look your best, take the time to dress up, put on the extra effort, paint your nails, invest in flattering accessories, make sure your hair is at its best... sororities notice it.
3) be engaging, don't be afraid to talk about your passions, community service actions in high school, or what you plan on doing in GW. Sororities want girls who are involved.
4) never sound desperate and tell them that you will definitely chose them, it puts them in an awkward position and at the end of the day, its not a single sister that determines your future, its the entire system
5) sound respectful (dont talk about partying or boys, theyre recruitment nonos)
6) Dont be afraid to ask questions! you sound interested and you get to know more about the sorority, which will help you narrow down your preferences
7) keep an open mind- recruitment can be stressful, and you might be dropped by some sororities that you loved. It is not the end of the world, trust the system, you will end up where you're supposed to, you might not see it at the time, but you will understand it soon.
8) be yourself, seriously, sisters were trained to recruit, they can see when girls are not being genuine. More importantly, if you're not yourself, you might end up in a house that is not right for your personality or your taste

9) take what you read in this website with a grain of salt, choosing your sorority is your personal decision and it shouldn't be influenced by this site or even your friends. People have different preferences and might like and dislike sororities that are different from the ones you liked or disliked, it all comes down to your preference. Also, most posts on this site are extremely biased, try to stray away from them and go through recruitment only thinking about your opinions.
10) Don't suicide rush, you might end up not getting a bid. Even if you have a clear sorority in mind, you might still get dropped from it, and if that happens and you refused to talk to other sororities because they were not the one you were singularly interested in, then you are left empty handed.
11) Be nice and engaging with all sisters you meet, even if they're from a sorority you think might not be right for you because you might get to know other sisters and end up liking the sorority. Also, it looks pretty bad for you if you skip a round or if you refuse to talk to a specific sorority and you might even be dropped from recruitment.
11) Be confident! You're amazing and special and the house that you're meant to be in will see that!

Good luck to everyone going through recruitment and I hope that you add a chapter to your story and find a home away from home at GW!

13) If you ever feel conflicted because you cant decide between sororities or because you feel discouraged, don't be afraid talk to your Pi Rho Chis! They are prepared to help you through recruitment and will help you talk it out! Also, they have recruitment boxes filled with emergency things you might need like safety pins, breath mints, snacks, etc...
14) Bring snacks, the first recruitment days take almost the entire days and some granola bars or snacks are great to keep you going!
15) Take a small makeup bag, sometimes its hot and some days are long and its nice to retouch your makeup once in a while. Better safe than sorry!
16) Don't worry about clothes, Panhell will do its best to help you with that and will tell you what types of clothes to wear on each day. If you are still confused after that, don't worry. There will be pinterest boards with a lot of outfits that can inspire you and your PRCs can always tell you if what you plan to wear is recruitment appropriate and give you tips!
17) Dont talk while you wait to go into a room. Its very tempting to talk to other girls about sororities. It will happen, but always keep in mind that opinions are personal and you all might have different opinions on the same sororites, dont let that influence you. Your choice is for a lifetime and you want to end up somewhere YOU like
18) Be positive! Even though recruitment can be stressful, it is also super fun! You will get to know a lot of girls and find a home!

The person above got it right. I think the biggest thing that was a shock to me when I went through recruitment was how differently girls felt about different chapters. Chapters I LOVED were not liked by some girls, and some girls loved certain chapters that I couldn't see myself in at all.

My biggest advice is to remember that this is not high school - no guy is going to want to date you just because you're in a top chapter, and no girl is going to think you are cooler than you are because of what chapter you're in. People "care" about their own chapters reputation - they don't give a damn what chapter you're in. I've seen top tier frat guys date bottom tier sorority girls and vice versa. It's college not high school - people judge you for you, not the clique you hang out with. There are perks of being in a top sorority but it's not at all comparable to being a popular girl in high school. Being popular in hs matters so much. It doesn't really matter here.

everything in here is so accurate! Also, remember to get out there and talk to the girls going through recruitment as well, not only the sisters, especially in your small groups, it will make the process less intimidating and who knows, some of them might end up being your sisters, and even if they chose another route, you will have made friends
