do you have to know girls in sororities to get into one as a soph rushing in the fall? i know it helps but does that make or break your chances into getting into one and a good one at that

No, you don't have to know anyone. It helps but is not necessary in the slightest. But you should know going into it that the "best" sorority (by some standards) Alpha Phi does not really take sophomores. The rest are all very open to it.

Alpha phi is the only one stuck up enough to not take sophomores.
