transfer

How uncommon is it for a junior to go through spring recruitment? I might transfer and I was wondering about the chances of having a good rush experience. I know with some schools it puts you almost at dead last pick.

not too common and some sororities drop you due to your age. maybe try informal for your best bet

I went through rush and dropped at a different school bc I know I'm transferring, but I still signed a thing saying that I can't rush until the spring bc I lasted until bids were out. Does this basically not guarantee me a spot somewhere good? I don't care about a popularity contest. just not somewhere struggling to find members etc.

You signed an MRABA which binds you to whatever bid you would have been offered had you not dropped for one calendar year at your university. This does not apply if you transfer in the fall, so you can do COB in the fall once you transfer or go through spring formal recruitment. You signing or not signing an MRABA wouldn't have mattered your odds of a bid "somewhere good," because it doesn't change what chapters will do COB in the fall. It also doesn't change your odds for formal recruitment. Your odds will only improve if you have great grades, get involved as soon as you come to campus, make friends with girls in chapters on campus, and keep your reputation pretty clean.

Yep some chapters auto drop juniors but not all! Juniors are easy to add because they don’t count towards quota - meaning a chapter can easily include them to further pad their numbers and you’re not “taking the spot” of a younger woman. That works in your favor :) And yes, informal recruitment is always low-key but not all chapters do it.
