should i keep rushing

by:

I got dropped by all the houses I liked. Yesterday I only attended half the max possible parties, most of which were by houses I had dropped the night before. I thought I had really genuine conversations with some of the sororities that I really liked that are considered upper/middle tier. The ones I have left I’m not really vibing with. Do u think I should drop and just rush again as a sophomore? Also what’re my chances of getting a bid as a sophomore from an upper level house if my friends are in it?

if there is no way that you will be happy in the houses you have left you should drop. It’s not fair to the sisters or to you to join a house you don’t want to be in.

I think you should at least stay until pref night. A lot of girls that are dropped by "top houses" who decide to stick out the rest of rush realize that they were imagining themselves in a house that they wouldn't actually fit in. If you get to pref night or even accept a bid, you can still drop and re-rush in the future.

Tier is very overrated, and I'm in an "upper-mid" house. Being where you feel comfortable and accepted is by far the most important thing.

I would definitely keep going through recruitment, its best to give every chapter a chance and as cheesy as ~trust the process~ is, it actually does work! if you get a bid from a chapter you don't like and its not just bc they are not "top tier" but because you didn't get along with anyone you talked to, that is fair. But you should at least give it a chance until then!

like someone else said, tiers are incredibly arbitrary. i think you should continue through the process and then re-evaluate on bid day. as for rushing as a sophomore, it depends on the chapter. certain chapters have high GPAs that are arguably harder to maintain as an upperclassman or simply prefer freshmen. it's your decision in the end- if you really don't see a home within your final pref chapters, don't join
