money or gpa
by: anondoes money or gpa help get you into a sorority? I have a 4.0 and a decent mount of money but I'm not quite sure if I would be able to fit in with the other girls.

if you feel like you don't fit in with the other girls, that's not the right chapter for you. Don't pick a house for rankings or perceived prestige, go with wherever you feel is the best fit for you & wherever you like the sisters the most. As for money, it won't matter. Chapters don't care about how much money you have, & if you can't pay dues then they'll work out a plan with you to make it affordable for you. GPA does matter though, especially for chapters that are known to prioritize academics a lot (adpi, chi o, sk). It never hurts to have a good gpa. Not all chapters care as much about your grades as a house like adpi or chi o, but every chapter will like high GPAs. How much they care about your gpa depends on the house.
To answer your question: they don't care about money, they care about if you're a good fit with the chapter & the other girls. Having money won't automatically get you into a house (though the hard-partying chapters often seem to have more affluent members), what matters most is your personality & how you fit with the chapter. If anything, flashing money around will only make people dislike you (unless it's a house that goes clubbing a lot, but those are in the minority). GPA will always be looked at & having a high gpa always helps, but how much they consider it depends on the house.

Agree with what this person said about gpa ^^ I also don’t think money matters, but you’re still going to want to look put together during rush. You don’t have to wear designer brands or anything but definitely try to show your personal style and that you cared enough to put effort into your outfit and appearance.
