Its actually not as hard as people think it is. This past year approximately 90 sophomores went through recruitment, and most of them ended up in the chapters of their choice. Its all about your personality, and of course interest level! :)

For a girl: so much harder to get in. You can get in as a sophomore if and only if:
a.) You are drop dead gorgeous
b.) Made friends with tons of girls in the sorority that you want to join freshman year

Good Luck

And for any freshman that read this: Rush freshman year, you will regret not rushing, trust me, if you hate it just drop, but sophomore rush is awful.

I want to rush as a sophomore but didnt finish it as a freshman and dropped it.... is it worth trying again? I have tons of friends in Kappa/DG/APhi... and those are the only ones I'm interested in really,since those are the ones with my girls.
