nervous to pledge a sorority...
by: melissa212I really like the idea of being in a sorority, having and making close friends and being in a community at a big school. (Coming from high school in a small town in Alberta going to a big school will be a big change). But I'm honestly really scared about what might happen to me as a pledge or during initiation. I'm scared that I'll be forced to do things that I might not want to. How bad is it?

Thats not true (what the individual said)
You're never forced to do anything that makes you uncomfortable or unhappy. There are members of the chapter office that are in place to ensure your comfort, prevent hazing, and express concerns to. They practice discretion and secrecy. There are philanthropic and sometimes hard time obligations but personally, ive always felt safe.

I had heard horror stories from friends about some fraternities hazing (NOT ALL!!) so I was terrified about what I would go through but sororities are pretty strict on that stuff so you don't have to do anything that makes you uncomfortable. I can't speak to all the sororities but the one i joined doesn't do any sort of "pledging" and panhell doesn't allow hazing so you will be in safe hands :)
