to rush or not to rush
by: NewKidI'm a HS senior that just accepted my offer to UWO recently. I played football in HS, have done a lot of volunteer work, and I'm a really social person. My dad teaches at Western and he told me that it'd be a great way to start off my journey as a University Student, infact he's actually had a few fraternity members in his classes who have recently made it into Ivey HBA program. I'm going into Finance and still want the grades to make it into Ivey so my question is; which fraternity would be the right fit for me in terms of interests; Sports,Business,Fitness, and having a good time while still focusing on academics ? Please answer this question with honesty and sincerity and try to leave out biased opinions.

I'm sure all the frats think that we are involved in Sports, Business, Fitness, having a good time, and academics. Rush all of the frats and see which one is the best fit for you, that's really the only way to do it.
Just don't screw up and rush DU... or Fiji... and you should be good.

In september IFC sets of fraternity booths on concrete beach, I would recommend checking that out. Although I am happy with where I landed, I regret not looking at other fraternities in first year in order to get a better feel for what other fraternities offered. sounds like you have a lot of things going for you so I would attend as many events as possible and see which fraternity fits best with your interests and goals. Also join the Western IFC Facebook page for updates about events for the upcoming year.
Good luck

Stay away from touchy creepy alpha zeta psi. Every other frat should be okay. If you are good looking and have an extremely high kill count rush kappa sigma if you think you can handle being the smallest, worst looking and have the lowest kill count in the room

The best advice one could give is to go to the rush week events for a few of the frats and find a group of guys you like. Id rush Sigs, LXA, Fiji or Pike. Sigs has money and connections. lXA has good parties and good connections to the bars. Fiji has good academics and Pike is decent around the board. Id say that these four are also the best-regarded frats reputation-wise inside and outside the greek scene. But again, check each one out and find the best fit.

This is coming from a guy in PIKE. DU and FIJI are both great frats. Don't rush PIKE if you're than 5'6" you won't fit in with the rest of the brotherhood.
